Assalam-u-alaikum, dear friends. Till a few years back, it was almost impossible to think of creating a website which was completely written in Urdu rather than English. One of the main hurdles was non-availability of fonts which would support all the characters of the Urdu alphabet. Fortunately, several people stepped up to the challenge and today we are living in what I believe can be called a golden age, in terms of Urdu Font and Calligraphy development. Several fonts are now available not only for Urdu, but for languages such as Farsi (Persian) and Pushto. This development of fonts along with Urdu keyboard layouts has led to the creation of several websites based completely on Urdu. And may I add that it is exhilarating and encouraging indeed to browse content published in our own local language and style. Since the PakFellows Forums now supports these fonts and several of our members are sharing content using these fonts, I thought I would write a short tutorial with simple instructions about how you can install Urdu fonts (or for that matter ANY font) on your computer and can enjoy viewing and reading Urdu content on the web. These fonts are NOT a part of the Windows Installation fonts and for that reason, need to be installed manually. First of all what you need is the font that you intend to install. You can try googling for Urdu fonts from various sources. We have uploaded quite a few fonts in our Download Area as well. You may access the Font Download section here: Urdu Resources Choose the font you want to install and download it. In case the font is in the form of a compressed folder (*.ZIP or *.RAR format), use a simple utility like WinRAR to extract the actual contents of the compressed folder. The actual font has the extension *.TTF with an icon similar to the one shown below. Copy the font file. Now open the Control Panel on your computer, i.e. Start > Control Panel. Here, you will find a folder named "Fonts". Open this folder. Paste the font file you copied earlier into this folder. Alternately, you can also install fonts by going to File > Install New Font in the Fonts folder and then selecting the font(s) you wish to install. The process is the same both ways. That's it! Now, whenever you open a website which is using one of the Urdu font(s) you have installed on your computer, the browser will detect it and display the correct font instead of the default Arabic font. Enjoy!
Thats nice sharing saeed bhai. Us din app k profile mein downloads mein fonts ka kuch reference dekha tha. Yeh kis website se explore kiya hai aap ne?
 Acha, I'm not sure which reference are you talking about. These fonts are available on different websites over the internet. Some are free of cost whereas others are licensed. Just google the particular font you are looking for and you'll turn up quite a few websites offering it.
